Look closely, describe plainly
In an archive, enthusiasm is most useful when it is accompanied by a description of what can actually be seen. Note the texture, typography, shape and condition. A precise description gives the next reader something to examine rather than an opinion to inherit.

The culture of the tobacconist includes printed labels, boxes, tools and other everyday objects. Each can be studied for its design and historical context without treating it as an endorsement or a measure of product quality.
Let the evidence set the pace
Good documentation is patient work. Compare sources, preserve uncertainties and resist the urge to turn every object into an exceptional discovery. Sometimes a modest, accurate account is the most valuable contribution.
